30 Day Movie Challenge - Day Nine

Watchmen (2009)

This is one of my favourite films and comics. And it couldn’t be a better adaptation. I’ve seen this film 20+ times. You hate but like nearly all of the characters and although what happens during the film is terrible you understand why it was done. It’s brilliantly written and the fact that every line is quotable is probably why I know the script so well.

The Bucket List (2007)

This has to be one of the saddest films I’ve ever seen, but also one of the nicest and funniest. It tells the story of two men that get diagnosed with cancer. One is a millionaire, the other’s a mechanic and they share a hospital room. While getting Chemotherapy they are told they have 6-24 months to live, so they write a bucket list and travel the world doing various things (Skydiving, racing muscle cars, climbing the pyramids etc.). The final few minutes consists of Nicholson giving a speech and Freeman’s funeral, saying how even though he only knew him a few months he was the best friend he’d ever had and that the best time of their lives were their two months of travelling. Freeman’s end monologue then reveals that Nicholson lived another ~10 years and that they were illegally buried on Mount Everest (which was the one thing on the list they never got to do, because of a storm). I cry my eyes out every time I see this film.

Back To The Future Part III (1990)

At the end of this film I can’t help crying, it’s the perfect ending to a brilliant trilogy. It’s brilliant, Doc comes back in a new Time Machine and gives Marty a present (a picture of them both in the Wild West) they have a really emotional goodbye and then Doc time jumps, “The End” appears across the screen and the very powerful theme of BTTF plays. It’s brilliant.

Marty: Hey Doc, where ya goin’ now? Back to the future?

Doc: Nope. Already been there.

30 Day Movie Challenge - Day Six

American Pie 2 (2001)

I can watch this film time and time again. The best American Pie and a brilliant teen film. A film series that gets awful reviews in the States, but here in the UK they’re a cult classic. I grew up with the original Pie’s, and Reunion was great and nostalgic, I really hope they make more (with the original gang, not that Presents shit). But no.2 will always be my favourite.
